Today’s reading is chapter thirty-seven of Green Comet, the first book in the Green Comet trilogy.

In chapter thirty-seven Fran’s optimism is just barely rewarded. Her plan gets the go-ahead. She and Elgin visit a school to reassure the children, who can’t wait to get into a smasher and get to work. They’re thrilled that it will be Buzzard showing them how. The people start going down for deep hibernation.

Today’s reading is chapter thirty-six of Green Comet, the first book in the Geeen Comet trilogy.

In chapter thirty-six we have the second debate about separating the comets. Since Winston took early hibernation, Nigel will be Fran’s opponent. Fran notices the audience swaying like seagrass. Elgin does not sway. He is her rock. He loves her for her strength and compassion. Unfortunately, Nigel turns out to be an even better debater than Winston.

In a past reading I promised that I would reveal the location of my last remote video, so here it is: The camera was looking south from the Fairview historical site. Today’s video has another challenge for my local audience. Have a look and get your guesses in. I will reveal the answer next time.

In chapter thirty-five Elgin can’t understand how anyone could not realize that Fran was right. We see the first appearance of Elgin’s legendary face. They play a flashball game and use Elgin’s Fractal for the first time. And it’s also the first appearance of a smasher.
