Under the Lunchbox Tree – Part One

Today’s reading is part one of Under the Lunchbox Tree by John Kessel, part of a collection of short stories called the Baum Plan for Financial Independence. It’s about ten minutes long. Like other Okanagan Reader stories it is licensed Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike. 12-year-old Mira wasn’t enjoying Camp Swampy. She didn’t like most of the girls, but worst was the boredom. She had to find a way out of there. Listen to this and other stories on the Audio page. There are over a hundred readings there now, so scroll down near the bottom of the page for this one.
