  1. I have two grown children. But there probably won’t be any grandchildren. One less grandmother here.

    What do we …not particularly me…call our children that are grown? Do other languages have a term for that? It sounds to silly to say children when they are close to 40. Maybe I should say …my mature old spring. But the mature part sounds a bit silly too. 🙁

  2. Your children are still your children, even when they’re no longer children. That’s the delightful vagueness of English.-) I’m sure there are languages that have a specific word for everything. Grown son. Grown daughter. Grown son with one child. Grown daughter with no children. But is there a language where you can’t say just “children,” whatever their other status?
