Elgin and Fran tell their story to Verdi and his court.
This reading is chapter twenty-two of The Francesians, part three of the Green Comet trilogy. The listeners mostly feign disinterest in the story telling, but some of them are captivated. They take a break for lunch, which gives Elgin and Fran the chance to go and check on their crew. They are in bad shape and it’s not certain that all of them will survive. Our people make plans to rehabilitate Green Comet. They want to show the people that they could challenge authority.
