The Center for Biological Diversity’s Rubber Dodo Award is given annually to those who have done the most to drive endangered species extinct. The 2012 award has been given to some American politician.

When astronomers find habitable planets orbiting distant stars it’s going to stimulate a big upsurge in activity.
