Welcome to Green Comet

There have been over 50,000 downloads of the stories in the Green Comet trilogy. If you’ve read any or all of them, then please drop a note in the comments below. I love to hear from readers, whether it’s a question or a compliment or a criticism, constructive or otherwise. Whatever you want to say, I want to hear it.

Are you interested in lucid dreaming or ball lightning? How about the feet of geckos or spiders? The aquatic ape? Cave art? Maybe you like clouds. You might have a fascination with out-of-body or near-death experiences, collective nouns or synesthesia. You can find all that and more here. Just use the handy little search bar.

There’s a lot of interesting stuff here, but mostly this website exists as a place for the Green Comet trilogy and my other novels to live. Please sign the guest book.

These free novels, Creative Commons licensed Green Comet, and its sequels Parasite Puppeteers and The Francesians, tell an expansive story of love and adventure on an inhabited comet. To learn more about the trilogy, and for samples, visit the Welcome page. To download the books, visit the Books for Free page. The novels The Plainsrunner, The Prime, Sunward and the Vin Stone series are available through the Books for Sale page. To listen to the Okanagan Reader, visit the Audio page or the YouTube channel.

My Books in Libraries

Help me get my books into libraries.

I got a letter from the Canada Council for the Arts telling me that my books are eligible for the Public Lending Right Program. Unfortunately they are rated as Eligible but Unfound. That’s why I need people to request that my books be brought in by their libraries so they can be found. Not only by the program, but also by other readers.

Here are the books that I have in the system so far: (All available as both ebooks and audiobooks)

Vin Stone – Freelance Accountant
Vin Stone – Not a Detective
Vin Stone – Night Soil
Vin Stone – The Detective’s Car
Vin Stone – The Groundsman

If they allow you to request by just the author’s name, that would be Jim Bowering.

Of course, this program only applies to Canadian libraries, but I would have no objection to seeing my books in libraries elsewhere.-)

I will be adding more books in the near future. If you ever wished you could do something simple to help out an author, and which would cost you nothing, this is it.

Thank you.

YouTube – Parasite Puppeteers – Chapter Forty-Two

When they finally arrive Fran compares notes with Plub.

This reading is chapter forty-two of Parasite Puppeteers, the second book in the Green Comet trilogy. They compare their phenotypes, their worlds and their evolution. Then there’s the moment when she has to reveal what the Visitor did to their world. They are shocked and horrified when they learn that the Makers have begun a Great Cutting. This is supposed to mollify the comet people.
